2024-W NGC MS-70 First Day Of Issue 1 oz American Gold Eagle Burnished Coin
The first Gold Eagle produced by the US Mint was a 1 Troy oz gold coin. In 1986, the US Gold Eagle and its counterpart, the Silver Eagle, premiered in the bullion market as the debuting coins of the American Eagles Program.
The US Mint extended the Gold Eagle Collection by adding fractional sizes and different options of coin finishes.
These coins, in particular, are burnished versions, struck in the West Point branch, and carry the “W” mint mark. The blanks used in their minting underwent a special treatment process called burnishing, which cleans them from undesired oxides, resulting in a matte finish with more vivid design details.
Today, ONZ Bullion offers 2024-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagles, taken among those available for purchase in the US Mint on day #1, sealed and certified by NGC as an MS-70 coin.
