2012-(S) NGC MS-70 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin Struck at San Francisco
The American Eagles Program was launched in 1986 as a result of the Liberty Coin Act and the Gold Bullion Coin Act, both from 1985.
The US Mint resealed the American Silver Eagle as the United States' official silver coin, holding a 1-dollar face value, legal tender status, and a rescued beloved obverse design from the 1917 Half-Dollar Coin.
The Philadelphia Mint produces the US Silver Eagles bullion version. They typically carry no mint mark. However, when demand is high, the US Mint usually resorts to its other branches, such as the San Francisco Mint, to boost production.
Even though these coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint, they still carry no mint mark. That is only indicated on the NGC slabs, along with the MS-70 grade.
